1. Gather Ingredients 

You'll need gin, maraschino liqueur, Crème de Violette (a violet liqueur), and fresh lemon juice. Optionally, you can also prepare a cherry for garnish.

2. Prepare Your Tools 

Grab a cocktail shaker, a jigger (or measuring tool), a Hawthorne strainer, a fine mesh strainer, a coupe glass (or a martini glass), and ice.

3. Chill Your Glass  

Place your coupe glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

4. Measure Ingredients 

2 oz gin, 1/2 oz maraschino liqueur, 1/4 oz Crème de Violette, 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice. Enjoy!

5. Combine Ingredients in Shaker 

Add the measured gin, maraschino liqueur, Crème de Violette, and lemon juice to the cocktail shaker.

6. Add Ice and Shake 

Fill the cocktail shaker with ice, ensuring it's enough to properly chill and dilute the drink. Close the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds.

7. Strain into Glass  

Remove the chilled glass from the freezer or empty it of ice water. Using the Hawthorne strainer and fine mesh strainer together, strain the cocktail into the glass. This double-straining method helps ensure a smooth texture without any ice shards or pulp.

8. Garnish and Serve 

Optionally, garnish your Aviation Cocktail with a cherry. Traditionally, a maraschino cherry is used, but you can also opt for a fresh cherry if preferred. Place it on the rim of the glass or drop it into the cocktail. Serve immediately and enjoy!
