1. Prepare the Berries 

Wash the berries thoroughly under cold water and remove any stems or leaves. You can use a single type of berry or a mixture of different ones according to your preference.

2. Muddle the Berries 

In a cocktail shaker or a sturdy glass, add a handful of the washed berries along with a few fresh mint leaves. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently crush the berries and mint together to release their flavors.

3. Add Vodka 

Pour a shot (about 1.5 ounces) of vodka into the shaker or glass with the muddled berries and mint. Adjust the amount of vodka according to your taste preferences.

4. Sweeten with Simple Syrup  

Add a splash of simple syrup to the mixture. Simple syrup is made by dissolving equal parts of sugar and water over heat and then cooling it. Adjust the sweetness based on your preference by adding more or less syrup.

5. Shake or Stir 

If using a cocktail shaker, fill it with ice cubes and shake the mixture vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until it's well chilled. If not using a shaker, simply stir the mixture well with a spoon.

6. Strain into a Glass 

Fill a glass with ice cubes and strain the berry vodka mixture into the glass, leaving behind any solids from the muddled berries and mint.

7. Top with Club Soda 

Pour club soda into the glass, filling it to the top. The club soda adds a refreshing fizz to the cocktail. Stir gently to combine.

8. Garnish and Serve 

Optionally, garnish the drink with a lemon or lime wedge on the rim of the glass for an extra citrusy touch. You can also add a few whole berries or a sprig of mint for an attractive presentation. Serve immediately and enjoy your Berry Vodka Smash!
