1. Gather Ingredients

Collect all the necessary ingredients. For a classic margarita, you'll need tequila, triple sec (or Cointreau), fresh lime juice, and optionally, some simple syrup or agave nectar for sweetness, and salt for rimming the glass.

3. Prepare Ingredients

Juice your limes to get fresh lime juice. You'll typically need about 1 ½ to 2 ounces per margarita, depending on your taste preference. Make sure your tequila and triple sec are also ready.

4. Combine Ingredients

In a shaker, combine the tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. If you prefer a sweeter margarita, you can add a splash of simple syrup or agave nectar to taste.

5. Add Ice

Fill the shaker with ice. The ice will help chill the drink and dilute it slightly, which can mellow out the flavors.

6. Shake

Shake the ingredients vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. This helps to thoroughly mix everything together and chill the drink.

7. Strain

Using a strainer, pour the margarita into your prepared glass. If you prefer your margarita on the rocks, you can skip this step and simply pour the contents of the shaker directly into the glass.

8. Garnish and Serve

Garnish your margarita with a lime wedge or wheel. Optionally, you can also add additional salt on top of the drink for extra flavor. Serve immediately and enjoy your classic margarita!
