Ingredients Preparation

Gather all the ingredients you'll need. For basic fried rice, you'll need cooked rice (preferably leftover and cooled), diced vegetables (like carrots, peas, onions, and bell peppers), protein of your choice (such as chicken, shrimp, or tofu), eggs, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and cooking oil.

Cook Protein

Add your chosen protein (chicken, shrimp, or tofu) to the pan and cook until it's cooked through. Make sure chicken is no longer pink and shrimp is opaque.

Add Vegetables and Eggs

Push the protein to one side of the pan and add the diced vegetables to the empty side. Cook until they're slightly softened but still crunchy. Then, push the vegetables to the side with the protein and pour the beaten eggs into the empty side of the pan.

Add Rice and Seasonings

Once the eggs are cooked, add the cooked rice to the pan. Break up any clumps and stir-fry everything together, mixing the rice with the protein, vegetables, and eggs. Pour soy sauce over the rice and mix well. You can adjust the amount of soy sauce to taste.

Finish and Serve

Continue stir-frying the rice until everything is heated through and evenly mixed, about 2-3 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Once everything is heated through and well combined, remove the pan from heat and serve hot.
