Maple Bourbon Cornbread Recipe

Step 1: Preheat the Oven 

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures that your oven is ready by the time you finish preparing the cornbread batter.

Step 2: Grease the Pan 

Take a baking dish or a cast-iron skillet and grease it lightly with butter or cooking spray. This prevents the cornbread from sticking to the pan as it bakes.

Step 3: Mix Dry Ingredients  

In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of cornmeal, 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Stir the dry ingredients together until well combined.

Step 4: Prepare Wet Ingredients  

In another bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup of melted butter, 1/4 cup of maple syrup, 1/4 cup of bourbon, and 1 cup of milk. Make sure all the ingredients are well incorporated.

Step 5: Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients 

Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the cornbread dense.

Step 6: Add Mix-Ins (Optional) 

If desired, you can add mix-ins like chopped nuts, cooked bacon bits, or shredded cheese to the batter for extra flavor and texture. Fold them in gently until evenly distributed.

Step 7: Pour Batter into Pan  

Pour the cornbread batter into the greased baking dish or skillet, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.

Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cornbread is golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
