3. Kneading the Dough

Transfer the dough to a clean, floured surface and knead it for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. This step is crucial for developing the gluten in the dough, which gives taralli their characteristic texture.

4. Resting the Dough

Once the dough is kneaded, cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let it rest for about 30 minutes. This resting period allows the gluten to relax and makes the dough easier to work with.

5. Shaping the Taralli

After the resting period, divide the dough into small pieces and roll each piece into a thin rope, about 6 inches long. Join the ends of the rope to form a small ring, pressing the ends together firmly to seal them.

6. Boiling the Taralli

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). In a large pot of boiling water, carefully drop the shaped taralli in batches. Boil them for about 1-2 minutes or until they float to the surface. This boiling step helps set the shape of the taralli and gives them their characteristic texture.
