1. Prepare your ingredients 

Gather your whiskey, fresh lemons for juicing, and simple syrup (which is just equal parts sugar and water heated until the sugar dissolves).

2. Juice your lemons 

Roll the lemons on a hard surface to make them easier to juice, then cut and squeeze enough lemons to get 3/4 oz of lemon juice. Strain the juice to remove any pulp or seeds.

3. Measure out your ingredients  

Using a jigger or measuring cup, measure out 2 oz of whiskey, 3/4 oz of fresh lemon juice, and 1/2 oz of simple syrup.

4. Combine ingredients in a shaker 

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the measured whiskey, lemon juice, and simple syrup.

5. Shake well

Close the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. This will thoroughly chill the drink and help incorporate all the ingredients.

6. Prepare your glass 

Fill a rocks glass or old-fashioned glass with ice. If you prefer your drink straight up, you can skip the ice.

7. Express Lemon Peel  

Using a strainer or the built-in strainer on your shaker, carefully pour the contents of the shaker into your prepared glass over the ice.

8. Serve 

Garnish your Whiskey Sour with a lemon slice and/or a cherry. You can also add a lemon twist for extra flair if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing Whiskey Sour!
